Got some work done on it.

Here it is.  These are pix of most of my progress this week.  I got the panels painted, and assembled.  Though not shown in these pix I have the black 3/4″ spacers installed between the gray panels.

The LCARS are just set in place.  I will be framing them out and removing the protective coring off the plexi as a last step.  Also the three smaller screens are just B&W place holders until I get them printed out.

I also need to apply some detail vinyl taping and some “pill label” trek stickers and french cleats for mounting this thing.

 Next, it’s the podium-like lit LCARS consol…

The acrylic has arrived!!

The laser cut plexi was on my door step when I got home tonight!  Woo hoo!

Here it is all laid out.  The MSD and ‘keyboard’ are final prints.  The three other screens and the smaller keypad are just test prints to make sure the size was correct for final printing, which will be on transparencies in my inkjet printer.

Close to construction!

Sorry for the long delay. I had some password trouble with the blog that I just resolved for myself.

Anywho, news:dsc03978.jpegdsc03976.jpeg
The shop is done. Here’s some pix. (Note, the white cabinet does have drawer fronts and cabinet doors now, and the shop lights have been wired up and installed.)

I also have all the materials needed except the fasteners for the engineering station side wall (the wall without the monitors.) Also, thanks to a great guy on the rpf, I also have all my plexi laser cut to exact dimensions for all my LCARS!! It should be arriving in a few days.

Soon I should be starting construction, though the weather has turned rather cold and even though it is insulated, I do not have heat going to the shop yet. That is on next years budget.

Graphics arrive.

I got the MSD and console professionally printed out finally.

Please take a look at the one showing my hand for size compairison.  Do you all think the buttons and text are WAY too big?  I am thinking of discarding this print and designing a smaller set of graphics for the console.

BTW, these are laying on the floor under a thin sheet of plexi.

Still on hold…

I am beginning to think I should have waited to put up this blogg.  Still waiting to get everything together and start cutting.  I am almost finished putting a shop together in my garage so I can stop waiting for shop time at my dad’s pkace.

On the other hand, the two large graphics I made (the MSD and the long key pad) should be printed and sent out to me on the 31’st.  I had to go with a second printer since I was getting nowhere with my first.

More updates as they come.

Cleaning house

Got a BIG yard sale coming August 3rd.  Cleaning out the garage this weekend.  Selling all our junk the weekend after.  The workshop will finally be put together after 5 years in this house!

What does that mean for my engineering station and this blogg?  It means that I will be able to move this project from my Dad’s cramped basement workshop into my spacious garage workshop.  Which also mans I will not have to work around his erratic schedule, which means I could be getting my station built all the more quickly.

Keep your eyes open for updates.

First post.

Well, I have my drawings.  I have some of the materials, I have made the graphics.  And tomorrow I start constructing the non-console wall.     Here’s a picture of the overall finished design, followed by images of the graphics I intend to use.

The “podium console” will be back lit.  The graphics displays on the wall above it will not be lit up nor will the small LCARS panel on the far right.  The small gray panel in the middle of the black divider will come off displaying iso circuit graphics (last pic) also not back lit.
